Deep Ellum’s Biggest Party of the Year

Image

Things are heating up in the Metroplex’s most progressive and eclectic neighborhood. The Deep Ellum Arts Festival is back in it’s 18th rendition and as always, exemplifies everything that makes this area rock. Six blocks of Deep Ellum’s Main Street will be transformed April 6, 7, and 8 to captivate all senses for a free, community event.

Those who attend will see over 200 visual and decorative artists, over 100 bands performing on five stages, and incredible food and drinks from participating area restaurants and bars.

Aside from festival concessions, restaurants participating include Anvil, Lemongrass, LaGrange, Buzzbrews, St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin, Cane Rosso, Mama Faye’s, The Free Man, Zini’s Pizza, and LaBella Cakes and Cupcakes.

Don’t forget about Sunday’s Pet Parade where hundreds of pet owners take their “Best Friends” on a tail-wagging promenade down Main Street.

Franconia Brewing Company to be featured at The Village at Fairview Beer Walk

140 places to shop, dine, entertain, and… drink delicious craft beer?

You may or may not have noticed, but North Texas is suddenly in a golden age of beer consumption. Lucky for you I found some of the freshest craft brew you can find, and you can try it free while you shop.

McKinney brewing company Franconia will be featured Thursday, March 15th at the first official Beer Walk of The Village at Fairview.

If you’re like me, you’re looking forward to trying the Dunkel. This particular dark lager spiced with German hops, sweet malt, balanced hops and a chocolate finish just happens to be the brewery’s lightest beer but mighty robust in flavor none the less. From 5-8pm guests can sample a variety of Franconia beers at tasting stations located inside select retail stores. Guests will be provided three beer vouches and a beer stein after checking in.

“Franconia translates to Franken in German, a small region within Germany having the largest number of breweries per population ratio in the world. Franken also being the birth place of Franconia’s brew master Dennis Wehrmann. A second special reason is to carry on the family brewery name of Franken Braeu being Franconia Brewing.”

Being a fifth generation brewer from Germany Dennis’ beer brewing family goes all the way back to his great great grandfather Schaubert who was brewing beer in 1800 at the family’s Franken Brewery.” You can see a picture of Grandfather Schaubert by taking a glance at the Franconia logo, pictured with the oak barrel.

As brew days dawn in Dallas, Franconia is one name worth remembering the next time you’re at your local pub. Test drive the robust flavors from five different Franconia beers Thursday, March 15th in Fairview during the first Beer Walk of 2012.

Select stores and restaurants will have special promotions and offers for Beer Walk participants. There is no cost for the event. Space is limited so early arrival is encouraged.
