Deep Ellum Barkfest 2012

 

What is Barkfest?

Barkfest 2012 is an event dedicated to raising funds and awareness to end pet overpopulation, abuse and neglect of Dallas-area dogs and cats. The theme is a “neighborhood party for a good cause,” and based on past events are expecting 300-400 people to come out in support. Food Trucks, Live Music, Entertainment, Beer, Pet-friendly vendors, and lots and lots of Dogs.

BarkFest 2012

Grab your four-legged furry friends and get ready for the first-annual Barkfest September 15th! From 6-9PM Dallas non-profit Paws in the City will transform Deep Ellum’s 1.2 acre dog park to create a neighborhood party you won’t forget, all to benefit a good cause. Experience live music from local DFW artists, the city’s best food trucks, and beer with a committed goal to raise money and awareness to end overpopulation, abuse, neglect of Dallas area dogs and cats. The event is free to the public and canines of all sizes are invited to join the party as well.  If you’ve yet to experience this wonderful park read all about it here. If you don’t have a dog of your own then your in luck. We will have plenty of adoptable dogs there looking for their forever home!

Ways to get involved

-BarkFest sponsorship packages range from $250 to $1,000 and include several naming and recognition opportunities.

-Purchase a mural for your pet for $250 which will be painted and unveiled at the event. See above Pegasus News article for more details.

-Donate to our raffle which will be given away during the event.

-Put a flyer up in you store.

Cedars Food Park – Grand Opening

Cedars Food Park at Dallas Heritage Village will hold a grand opening bash, Saturday, July 28, from 5 to 10 p.m., at 1515 S. Harwood, Dallas, Texas 75215, launching Dallas’ first food truck venue in a park setting. The event, representing the beginning of a unique collaboration between food trucks and Dallas Heritage Village, will feature 18 of Dallas’ best gourmet food trucks, live entertainment, and beer and wine from local establishments. Admission is free. Food prices range from $2:00-$9:00, with a portion of the proceeds going to Dallas Heritage Village.

DOG BOWL AT THE COTTON BOWL (FREE)

Grab your four-legged furry friends and get ready for the sixth-annual Dog Bowl May 6th! From 1-5PM Sunday the historic Cotton Bowl field transforms into a super-sized pooch park with splash pools, an agility course, a pet/owner look-alike contest and more.

The event is free to the public and canines of all sizes are invited to romp and run unleashed! Those who attend get to enjoy an animal-only agility course; a pet/owner look-alike contest (4:20 p.m.); splash pools, a one-stop fitness and canine obedience class with Hustle-N-Heel (1:30 and 2:45 p.m.); giveaways; exhibits; pooch portraits with DFW PhotoButtons ($5); plaster of Paris paw print canine crafts ($5); music by the seasoned jazz bassist Barri Pearson (1:45 – 2:45 and 3:20 – 4:20 p.m.); and more.  
 
Although the event is free, the City of Dallas charges $10 for parking within the gates. If you choose to ride the DART Rail Green Line to the Fair Park Station remember that Non-service animals are allowed on DART only if they are in crates.

Arts in the Square 2012

Frisco Square announces the 3nd annual Arts in the Square event, March 31st and April 1st, 2012.

“Arts in the Square is a community Fine Arts festival featuring over 120 of the best national and regional artists selling their original creations. The event is presented by Frisco Square Development and Frisco Arts.” See artists compete in categories such as 2D Mixed Media, 3D Mixed Media, Acrylics, Ceramics, Drawings, Pastels, Fiber art, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metalwork, Oil, Photography, Sculpture, Watercolor, and Wood.

To accompany the incredible art, those attending will enjoy live music, food and spirits from a wide-array of award-winning restaurants, and over 30 unique boutiques to explore and shop.
